Own a piece of history!!! This is the "ORIGINAL" painting used on REVELL'S #H-344 1960 "FLYING CLOUD" clipper ship in the highly collectible "S" series of model kits. The painting was done by Scott Eidson, the illustrator who did most of Revell's ship art in the 1950's, plus some of the aircraft and automobiles. Eidson was trained in fine art at the Art Institute of Chicago, but spent his career doing commercial art for clients in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. The painting has both tremendous drama and exquisite detail. It is gouache on art board and measures 14" x 19" in size. It is in mint condition.
This spectacular painting has been professionally framed to museum standards under glass and measures overall 18" x 24" in size.
Although, I have many fine model box art "originals" in my collection from various manufacturers, this particular painting remains one of my favorite pieces. The beauty and excitement that this painting conveys to the viewer is like no other, and that is what makes it truly extraordinary.
The only other 1950's Revell "original" model box art that I had was the Richard Kishady "classic" Lincoln "Futura" which was recently "sold" on eBay.
