INOPERABLE FOR PARTS: Enna Munchen Super-Sandmar F1.9 35mm Zebra Sockel Lens for ExaktaEnna Munchen Super-Sandmar F1.9 35mm Sockel Lens,
Serial No. 3552014 with an Exakta mount. The Sockel mount is marked "Geiss-America 50363".
The outer lens barrel with its zebra-style rings is in outstanding cosmetic shape and the focus works smoothly. The aperture adjustment moves in either direction as it should, but the aperture blades do not respond and remain in the full open position. When depressing the shutter release/aperture preview, the aperture blades do not respond, although sometimes there is an audible click. With the lens removed from the sockel mount, the aperture tab on the inner barrel can be manually moved and the aperture blades respond by opening or closing. The aperture blades are very clean. I don't know if something is not making a connection between the outer aperture adjustment and the inner tab, if the inner barrel when placed back inside the sockel is incorrectly aligned (seems to go in and snap only one way) or whether the inner aperture tab or some other mechanical part is sticking and needs lubrication. I'm hesitant to attempt any servicing for fear of using the wrong lubricant, wetting the blades or clouding the interior elements...this will be left to the new owner's discretion.
The forward lens element group (black-banded removable section of the barrel at front) appears clean and clear. The elements in the center section appear clean and clear at first glance, but under a flashlight test there is what may be some very faint haze. The rear-most element which is easily accessed by unscrewing the retaining sleeve has what I would describe as some degradation of the coating towards the edge or periphery. The retaining sleeve has a scratch which is partially visible in some of the photos, but as can be seen, the rear lens area is very clean.
Lens comes with an Exakta front lens cap, a Schneider Optik rear lens cap and a rigid leather case and strap in beautiful condition that's unmarked as to maker.
Reportedly, the f1.9 sockel was the fastest German made wide-angle ever made for the Exakta camera, and they are rather hard to find today.
NOTE:
Given the above description, this lens is mechanically, optically and film untested.
I am unable to attest whether every feature of the lens is working correctly, if the focus is working correctly, as to any conditions or issues with respect to the lens' optics or mechanics and whether any and all functions of the lens are working properly.
