    Description

Offered for sale here is a
    GORGEOUS and VERY RARE!
    Nikon/Steinheil München 35mm f2.8 "Auto-
    D
-Quinaron" wide-angle lens ensemble. The Nikon F factory mount version of this lens are very hard to find; plus in this fine condition ..... it is an incredible find! I would give this baby a condition 9 and I grade tough! Steinheil does have a rather poor track record for their optical coatings. Examples of the Exakta variant are often found with a mottled front coating. The coatings on this Steinheil/Nikon lens must have been greatly improved; Its coatings are in fine shape! Its diaphragm is snappy and its blades are oil free. Its manual click-stop aperture setting has a nice action. Its manual focusing action is as smooth as silk! Its lens barrel and Zebra operating rings have great cosmetics!! The lens looks to be a very clean and free of fungus and haze. Over the years I have owned and used many different copies of the Exakta bayonet variety and I have also had a couple with the M42 mount. This is one of my favorite lenses of the over 2000 different lenses for the Exakta system. Superb optical performance, compact in size, reasonably lightweight at close focus to @7 inches, and it is THE, all-around-cowboy for wide angle, normal, and close-up photography. The "D" was introduced to the mass-market in 1966, although its design was first used in 1964 in the Ihagee "Exaktar" series for the patent prototype of the Exakta Real. The Steinheil "Auto-D" was the successor and upgrade for the legendary, Steinheil Quinaron 35mm/f2.8 satin chrome lens that has a green ring graduated in flash guide numbers.

    ....OR should I say:
    GORGEOUS CONDITION!
To find this lens in just ANY condition is RARE but to find one like this specimen, in its fine shape, places it at the top of the RARE scale; into the collector's grade!! This lens has NOT been recently professionally cleaned and serviced. It
    may
have the occasional speck of dust that are common with all vintage lenses. This is nothing that would affect the contrast or quality of your negatives.
The Nikkormat camera, its stand and the bottle of Tabasco that are shown are NOT included as a part of this listing.
They were used as photographic props to display how a this RARE Nikon/Steinheil lens looks when mounted on a Nikon SLR and the Tabasco bottle was used as a size comparative.
I encourage you to carefully read the description, examine the photos, and ask any questions before you bid. Please check out the other photo items that I am also currently offering!
